There was a closeup of Buffalo linebacker Chris Kelsay during Sunday’s telecast of the Bills-Vikings game at Mall of America Field.
He was wearing the familiar No. 90.
It’s been Kelsay’s number for eight seasons, but anyone around this neck of the woods surely can recall a certain former North Dakota State standout wearing the same No. 90 for Buffalo.
That’d be Phil Hansen, who played 11 seasons with the Bills. Often overshadowed by his star defensive linemen, the Oakes, N.D., native played a huge role in getting Buffalo to three of the four consecutive Super Bowls the Bills played in in the early ’90s.
Tom West of the Minnesota Vikings public relations department caught up with Hansen in this recent story, Hansen fondly follows former Bills teammates.
On Brett Favre …
It’s too early to tell whether or not Brett Favre will keep his consecutive starts streak alive next Sunday when the Vikings host the New York Giants. The quarterback suffered a brutal hit early in Sunday’s game.
However, Favre’s streak of extending an interview with his own questions he asks himself is still intact. I’m working on a future blog post that will highlight Favre’s ramblings at the podium and beyond. Look for that near season’s end.
